Hi everybody,

Just joined and this is my first posting!

I have a BMW 118i which was purchased in July 2022.
To-date, the car has done slightly less than 5K miles.

I've got 2 queries:

1. Looked at the tyre pressures label on the driver's door pillar.
Recommended tyre pressure is 2.4 bar.
This is loaded into the onboard Tyre Pressure Monitor system.
Yesterday, I looked at the displayed measured values.
The 2 fronts were at 2.3 and 2.2 bar, whilst the 2 rears were both at 2.1 bar.

Curious why the system did not throw a warning on the dash to indicate that all 4 tyres were
    lower than recommended?
Is it a case that the measured value has got to fall to a certain % of the recommended before a
    a warning is issued?

2. Also, how will I know when the first service is due?

Rang the 'stealership' (car bought from) yesterday and was put through to a person who did not have a clue in both cases. For query 1, they were insisting that I booked the car in as something must be wrong. Sounds like these outfits have not moved on a jot from when I used to deal with them years ago (over company cars).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi
Yes they have to go below a certain pressure before you get a warning. Regarding service intervals that goes on a few factors for eg how the car is driven in regards to mileage/date.
If you go into the idrive system there is a section that will show when things like front/rear brakes need servicing, oil service etc are due.

Hope this helps
