This thread will start many debates as tyre choice is a very personal thing. I use Continental Sport Contact 2/3's on my car, but i'm not in it for mileage.

Some tyre info:

There is an international standard for tyre choice, not many tyre shops understand this, but they are rated in 3 catergories, Treadwear, traction, and temperature. Stamped on the side wall of every tyre sold in UK.

Any tyre for a BMW must be temperature A.
Traction should be AA, but no lower than A (AA is better than A)
Treadwear is where is get complicated, but in summary, between 240 and 300 is a good balance of wear and economy. 400 upwards is budget 200 and below is performance

But in essence, a tyre that is rated 440, A, A is probably a budget and a tyre rated 80, AA, A is a track tyre.

Theres the ammo, now make your choice! :)

I'm needing to replace my rear tyres on my 330ci M sport. They are the 255/35/18 Y rated. What is best for miles - not needing super sticky or run flats?
