Hello, I've just joined the club. I am the proud owner of a 2010 N55 135i.

I've just clocked 90k and wondered if I need to replace the timing chain. A family member that worked for BMW for many years said BMW revised the replacement period to 90k.

Many thanks

Christian

There isn't a replacement period as such on a timing chain, especially not 90k miles.

However, the scheduled oil changes are not good for longevity, so over servicing your oil and filter is a must. Do it every 6k miles to be extra safe, as this is what lubricates the chains etc.

If there is no noise, just keep on top of the oil changes with decent quality correct grade oil and genuine filters and it should last many, many more miles...

Thumbs Up
