Ok so i have been trying to get a stand for the BMW Car Club GB as this is right on my door step

As its 100 years of BMW there very keen for this BUT down side is there picking the cars or ones they think are good for the show?  (this may up set some as we all think our cars are god) and they are!!.

Yes there hand picking them so i give them info from the oldest car E9 and the chap with 520 E28

To Garys E30 up all the way to F80 new M3 even the Z3s Z4s to Johns stunning 235i,

This show is going to be way up there, a goodwood for Glasgow Wink theres got to be a stand at this for us

So a list of cars went of to the chap that needs to see what we have and he came back with 12-15 Cars

May be more?  so not to many then i know... Stu and Andrew are the chaps helping us gets this running

and been PM me and Issy to see what we can do

This is what the chap came up with for his wish list Shocked
I got a somewhat unrealistic list of "wish cars" from Stu at Ignition: Model Year 3/15 DA-1 (Dixi) 1927 - 1929 303 1933 - 1934 328 1936 - 1940 327 1937 - 1941 501 1952 - 1962 507 1955 - 1959 503 1956 - 1959 Isetta 1956 - 1962 2002 1962 - 1967 E9 3.0 CSL 1972 BMW M1 1978 - 1981 E28 1981 - 1988 E30 M3 YES GARY 1986 - 1989
E36/Evo YES JOHN?
1990-1999
8 Series E31 1989 - 1999 E39 M5 YES PAUL? 1995 - 2003 Z8 1999 - 2003 E46 M3 CSL 2003 - 2004 1M Coupe 2011 M2 2016

Told them we only have what i have showing him from the list and even gave him pics from meets past?

If there is any cars down south thats on this list that be cool but most of these car are a dream and lucky you even

See at Goodwood anyway

If anyone knows for E46 CSL, 2002, or 1M and Free on the 4th,-7th of AUGUST, 4th is a Thursday as cars need to be in and set up for 6pm, i take it its for the track to be set up around the SECC your car will be left till the Sunday evening, no time has been giving yet..

I know this is a bit of a dream for me to help get this even if its a small number of us get to show our cars ? take note its just the week leading up to Gaydon and i have told them this ,may make it even more harder to get his dream list lol

As for the rest of us the tickets go on sale very soon Smile PM Me if theres anyone with cars no the list !!!Confused

Our illustrious chairman RB has a Batmobile and there were quite a few at Gaydon last year. 1972 BMW M1
I have one, but I don't think I will be able to get it to Glasgow for this show, the timing with Gaydon does not help. There was an AHG M1 shown at the Edinburgh Concourse de Elegance in September last year

This is one of only 5 M1s that are taxed with MOT in the UK, one of which is BMW UKs car.

Nice wish list he's asked for.
I think the only things he's missed out are the original Millennium Falcon and a live unicorn. Wacko

Hope you can put something together though. Looks a pretty high profile event. If they want a rusty 328i you know where I am. Hug

We don't have a choice as John has mentioned above the organisers have requested what they want and we are trying to help from members cars.
It's not an easy task that John had taken on!

No they're not. They are fantastic machines, no taking that away but they are the equivalent to the old M Sport models.

Can you all just bear with me on this , as right now if this and only if they ask more cars to go i will get you all on board !!!! Its down to them

One this is that there very very slow on getting info back to me and its really making me lose sleep sometimes!!!

This is the list so fare as i have to mix the bag up a bit so its not an M3,M5 thing!!!

Issy cant make it with her nice E46 M3 so i would like a really nice one on there if any

1) Barry B   E46 club sport

2) Chris      1M

3) Peter     E28 520

5) Gary     E30 M3

6) john     E36 M3

7) Colin D E90 M3

8) Paul P  E39 M5

8) Stevie F10 M5

9) Pardeep Alpina V8

Now still trying to mix the bag up a bit, Eastern are helping with cars too!!

10) M2

11) i8 one or the other hoping for both cars

Now the part thats killing me just now Munich Legends !!! they may help ones i get some stuff sorted
They may gave us

12) 2002 E9 CSL

13) M1 and yes may be both cars here as well

NOW I WAS TOLD 12-15? May be more, and mind its 100 years of BMW so i have (i hope) 1960s-2016 there on the list,
If they get back to me soon i am hopping that they want like 20+ Cars and we get all to go!!! its the space as well!!!

Now if your on the list and others have been told now its Tur 4th -7th August  Sunday cars need to be in Thursday evening as it Stars on the Friday-Sunday Cars will not leave ones the track is up and running!!

Just trying to do my bit for something thats going to be very good and not to be looked over and in Scotland.

They may even turn round and say look we have cars we dont need you?? but i have been told that they would like some of our cars there,

Stick with me on this Wink

No they're not. They are fantastic machines but they are not old M Sport models either. In case you hadn't noticed BMW still sell M Sport models. BMW have created yet another 'niche' in the market and these are M lite models.

2series M Sport < M235i M lite < M2

1series M Sport < M135i M lite.

Not been on here for a while - so haven't seen this post John, nice list there ! hows it going with that ? I am hoping to be attending this - although not with my car, hadn't even thought about that, but seeing that list, there'd be 0.01% interest (or less) in my car being entered !!

Would there be a sort of "group purchase" sort of thing to buy tickets for this, for anyone who wants to go ? I'll almost definitely be going, although not bought tickets yet ?

Just a wee up date on this, i am now dealing with the organisers and still going between them and Munich legends

Munich legends are trying to get a car ready for BMW stand Goodwood next week so they have been very busy (M1 so look out for it on TV)

They're still willing to help me get cars and have been in touch with Ignition organisers and not even they could answer all the questions ?

Questions like how cars getting there and will the cars be under a cover at night, now thats not for me to answer but once i get the rest of the info it will be posted to you...

One thing to take note on this i am still trying to make this open for more cars in the club ??
But its a big ask

After all there looking for 100 years of BMW on a stand and that just not going to happen

Looks like i have 60s -2016 cars but still looking for older cars..

Bear in mind the chap at Munich legends and the chap at ignition know of one another as they worked for BBC Topgear and are used to picking up the phone and asking for this and that and getting it??This is not the case for this show Unhappy
So i dont really know how its going to turn out

Some more info on the show

We're massively excited to announce more Formula One action for IGNITION this summer!

  • Red Bull RB7 2011 - driven by Sergio Sette Camara & David Coulthard live at IGNITION!
  • Williams FW08 - the car Keke Rosberg won the title with in 1982.
  • Benetton 193B 1993 – the machine that helped put Michael Schumacher on the map.
  • Camel Lotus 101 - driven by Nelson Piquet in 1989.
  • 2004 BAR Honda - driven to victory by Jenson Button in the 2004 championship.
  • Tec-Mec F415 – simply one of the rarest Grand Prix machines ever produced.

Our world famous F1 line up will not just be a mere static display. We'll be taking these machines onto the street circuit at set times throughout the festival, giving spectators the chance to see and hear them all live on the track!  http://ignitionfestival-news.com/3683-8UJ4-3LW4YJ-3HPJQ-1/c.aspx" rel="nofollow - View our Street Circuit timings here.

IGNITION HQ is thrilled to announce that Mark Webber will be at IGNITION on Friday 5th August!

After notching up an impressive nine victories in F1, Webber now races for Porsche where he is competing at the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours this weekend before heading to IGNITION this summer.

All ticket types for Friday at IGNITION can be seen  http://ignitionfestival-news.com/3683-8ZM6-3LW4YJ-3J2YU-1/c.aspx" rel="nofollow - here.  The most exclusive tickets include IGNITE Club and Premium Plus where guests will get the best views of the  http://ignitionfestival-news.com/3683-8ZM6-3LW4YJ-3J2YS-1/c.aspx" rel="nofollow - street circuit  from the grandstands. IGNITE Club and Premium Plus ticket holders will also be invited to join us on Friday evening for an intimate and entertaining on-stage chat with motorsport personalities Mark Webber, Shane Lynch and Gordon Shedden.

This star-studded line-up will be sharing a mix of amusing tales and achievements on and off the track, followed by a lively Q&A session with the audience to round off the evening.

This will be a rare glimpse of these motorsport characters together so prepare yourself for a very special evening.

RE: BMWs for Ignition Festival of Motoring

Morning John,

Sorry I didn’t get back to you yesterday, a bit rushed this end at the moment.  This list looks great! So…

1) will they be parked next to one another – The cars that attend will be representing the BMW Car Club UK so will have a stand where all the cars will be parked together.  You should contact the BMW Car Club Scottish Branch – a woman called Isabelle Phillips  mailto:isabelle@bmwcarclubgb.co.uk" rel="nofollow - isabelle@bmwcarclubgb.co.uk  – to source stand furniture, banners and branded boards.  We can offer you carpet, furniture and electrics for £550 + VAT or you can order carpet separately at £2.50 per sqm – having carpet will smarten up your stand.

2) are they part of the show ? – Only the i8 and the Z8 will be part of the track parade, the rest of the cars will be parked up on a static stand inside the halls for visitors to come and see, find out the history and information on the cars and potentially you’ll have people that will what to join your club so it will be good exposure for the club

3) will they still need to buy tickets for the event – Each car owner with a car inside the hall from the club will get 2 tickets for the weekend

4) is there a limit on the numbers for the cars outside – No limit on cars outside, but it is a star car park so the cars have to be of some interest  – We have some choosing them, but me expect to have 150-200 cars or so in there.

5) the cars that are outside are they going to be needed the whole weekend – It is up to the owners, it is essentially just a car park but for people with nice cars that visitors can enjoy.  If people want to leave their cars there the whole weekend or only have it there on the day that they are visiting then that’s fine – we just need to know what they are doing.

6) the people that are inside , will we need to buy tickets as well ? – See Q.3

The Star car Park, as I said, it essentially a car park for people with nice cars – It allows those visitors with nice cars to show off their motors and other visitors to enjoy them. – If you have visitors that are interested in this then send them this link to apply for a place:  http://www.ignitionfestival.co.uk/exhibitors/private-car-owners" rel="nofollow - http://www.ignitionfestival.co.uk/exhibitors/private-car-owners

Lastly with regards to the list: I think with the amount of space in mind I would only like:

1) M3 E30 Tec 2                    Gary

2) M3 E36 evo 4 door           John

3) E28 520                              Peter

4) E46 Club sport                  Barry

5) 1M                                      Chirs

6) new M5                              Stevie

To be on the stand inside the hall, so could you now confirm that these cars are available for the weekend? And I will then send you a booking form.  You also need to decide how you want to decorate your stand and I think you’ll need to speak to Isabelle for funding if you want carpet and things.

Z8 and i8 – still needed for the track parade.

Anymore questions please do ask but in the meantime I hope this has helped.

Kind Regards,

Ollie

Ok so hes looking for a carpet for the cars inside lol £150 mmmm NO not from us

The good new is theres going to be a star car park and you can come and go even if its just for the day? the cars that are inside your there for the weekend

I did not pick the cars for inside, and that we cant do the 100years its been changed to this Confused

John,

I know this guy has requested the cars for indoors but everyone knows my car is nowhere near the standard of the others on the list.

We're putting a car that does on average 450-500 miles per week in amongst (and I don't mean to be rude here) garage queens that see the light of day on the odd weekend or some nice dry days.

It worries me that these 6 cars are meant to showcase the best our region have to offer and to be very frank mine shouldn't even be in the car park never mind indoors. In my opinion there are members who have put a lot of effort in to having their cars look as good as they can and deserve a place on the stand indoors long before my car does.

The wheels are needing refurbed and in true Stevie fashion I'm not going to have any time to prepare this car for this show.

Just my thoughts

Hi stevie, seriously if you want help preparing the car for the show I'd be only too happy to help, your car is a top notch, understand what you're saying, all the cars I've seen at the shows are all equally loved, also the variety is great so we never get bored of looking at each others, but they want yours and I think it's a great choice to represent the club

Sometimes it's nice to see a car looking like it's actually used, concours cars are... boring...

For all who will be going to Ignitions you are in for a cracking weekend  but I am never doing this again!! Andrew from Tartan Tarmac got in touch with me to see if there was interest in attending back in February. Since then have dealt with about 8 different people and about 4 different companies who don't seem to talk to each other. Was given an unrealistic list of cars to source, then submitted a list of about 20 cars which was whittled down by some organiser but lost track of who and where from, whittled to 15 then they gave me list of only 6 they wanted. I had no influence and am sorry people are disappointed. I got cars organised from munich legends and Eastern but the organisers didn't bother getting back to them and instaed its Park's of Glasgow. So they got CSL bat mobilebut left Legends and Eastern hanging.
I hope people from car club come to the show and enjoy because this is a huge event for Scotland.
We hope to pick up new members from this event and promote the club as one of the best regions.

PS Did I say that I am NEVER doing anything like this again, my head is even more mush than usual so Gary has lots more studying to do Wacko

O Saturday night curry after the show at Pardeeps  mmmmmm (partners too) Beer

Well done John for all your hard work getting this off the ground. I'm sure Tommy will agree with me as we feel your pain! Its not easy dealing with show organisers but if we didn't we would be at any shows. So thanks again and I'm sorry I cant be there but there is just too much on at the same time. Thats not good about Eastern though!

Have fun and enjoy it now you have done all the hard work! Clap

Nice one on getting this sorted & sticking with it dispite all the messing about from the promotors ...as soon as i saw they dont just want a club stand ..but "This car & that car " i knew then that it was going to be a nightmare for you . We have "Bumped" a few shows that told us what cars they wanted as we are all proud of our cars whether we drive an older 316 or the brand new just out the box M4 & should be allowed to bring what ever we have . All those going enjoy the show & im sure you will do our stand proud ....... again John well done on getting it off the ground

John, just a quick note to say thanks for organising this it was a great weekend, and surpassed my expectations by miles. The enthusiasm you guys show for your cars and each other's is great to see. As a new guy I felt welcome straight away and hopefully I'll get along to some other events/ meets and meet others in the club.
Cheers
Chris
