I purchased a new Bosch high pressure fuel pump for my BMW 320i (2016).
It should be new and it has no evidence of being fitted previously.
However it smells strongly of petrol when unpacked. Is this normal (eg.
part of the factory test procedure)? Anyone else had this experience?
Thanks in advance.

To be honest I wouldn't know but cannot imagine it would be tested with petrol. I can only suggest you ring the service dept at your nearest dealer and ask the question as they must have to fit them occasionally. Hope this helps, Steve. |

No-one would use petrol to check a pump in the factory! I bet that your 'new' pump had been fitted by someone who thought it was the key to his problem, found that it was not, and put it back on the shelf. |
