N57 Engine Recondition Service

Can anyone recommend a engine reconditioning service for a N57 engine = 80K and the bottom end seems to have gone. See a few services on ebay but not sure who would be the best . The engine is Knocking and metal in the filter ... i have been quoted 11K plus for this service by a local garage. Didn't think i would be looking at a overhauling a modern engine at such low mileage

try Nick Wright North East Region Group Technical Director; he was building /compiling a directory of suitable Technical Sites/Issues.  Also Simon Maskell 3 Series Guru!
Take it you have a Series 5 F10, Series 3 E90 or an X3 etc Its quite a powerful power plant. Does your car have swirl flaps?

Try Nick Wright NE Region or possibly Simon Maskell if its a 3 series.
