Alex

Thanks for pointing out the problem.

That discount was offered by the Wheel Specialist after they held an open day for us some years ago, and a number of us benefitted from it.

The magazine indicates that the discount they offer is 15%.

But in any case, I have spoken with the head office and they are coming back to me with a revised offer that they can offer at this time. I will arrange that the website and the magazine reflect the correct details.

I have a much better quote from smart wheels now, even with 15 %

Thanks for the message Peter but

discounts off over inflated prices arent worth anything

Cheers Alex

Price isn't everything.

However, it is quite right that you should decide where to buy based on all the information that you have.

If you go to Smart Wheels, and you believe that you receive good service and price then perhaps you should add them to the list.

By the way, I have now confirmed that the Wheel Specialist will continue to offer the 15% discount as per the magazine. I will endeavour to get the website changed to reflect this.

If you want to pay through the nose go ahead

The wheel specialist are way off on price.

They quoted me £300 plus Vat for 4 wheels, standard colour 17 inch

Then with the 15 % off after having to ask again for the discount said it was £271 plus Vat

work that one out !!!!!!!!

They cant even apply a discount to a quote they've already sent out pre discount

The reason they offer a discount is because the price is over inflated to start with

around £55 a wheel @ 17 inch, full refurb, is the going rate all in, especially in Manchester where theres lots of competition.

You get what you pay for. I used TWS Edinburgh to refurb my E60 M5 alloys. Not only did they do an excellent job, they changed my tyres to new ones (supplied by me), fitted new valves and balanced the wheels, all for £90 per wheel.

Not the cheapest but a better job than the "cheaper" refurb I had done on my E46 Sport alloys.

Having seen both, well worth it in my opinion.

Gerald

Here is a wheel refurb place not too far from you.

http://wheelrepair.co.uk/

They do all wheel refurb services including straightening and welding and diamond cutting (not cheap because the software man has to write the cad spec so that all wheels are the same when done)

Let them have a look at one and they will tell you what they can do.

Your choice Cambell, imo £90 is a rip off, I'd rather keep my curbs for that !

the fact that the discount code is old and wrong isnt good

but that doesnt surprise me !

The magazine cannot be kept up to date if the members do not let the office know what has changed, people are keen to promote discounts when they find them but do not keep up us up to date with changes and so we end up in this situation....

Think about what you can do for the club, not what it can do for you...

Darren its on the website

I now see that the magazine and the website are not showing the same discount

at those prices it would need to be substantially higher for me to go anywhere near them

I'm sure they do a great job but at that price I would expect them to

I,ve just had mine done by www.wheelrite.co.uk at Chorley. The price for acid strip, repair, powder coat, paint, refit tyres and balance. Paint wheel bolts, clean and repaint hubs was £80 per corner.
They look superb.

I actually used them for...16 alloys... I had a discount, but not sure what rate it was...in April this year. Overall very very pleased

4 alloys 19 inch 235/35 and 265/30 of Alpina D3: look great after 10,000 miles
4 alloys 16 inch of b/f's BMW 320d: look good after 15,000 miles (I recently managed to kerb one of them ShockedCryOuch)
4 alloys 18 inch 235/50 of Jaguar XJ with winter tyres on: done only 4,000 miles since, so look like new
4 alloys 18 inch 235/50 of Jaguar XJ with all season tyres on:  look good after 21,000 miles
