I'm want to give my engine bay a good clean up. However, I'm really concerned about using a pressure washer due to all of the electrics, especially around the coils packs. I would be grateful if anyone could offer any advice regarding areas to avoid, areas to cover up and any recommendations for cleaning and dressing products.
Regards Lee

personally i wouldnt use a pw on the engine bay, cover all electrics with cling film/foil, spray with an apc (i use a/s g101) agitate with brushes and i use an open ended hose to rinse off. once complete i use aero 303 for dressing, spray all over and leave for a few hours then just wipe over with a mf. hope this helps, any pics of before and after???

I would strongly recommend against using a pressure washer to clean your engine bay. There's far too many parts in there that don't need pressurised water forced into/around them. I use AutoGlym engine bay cleaner, spray it on, let it sit for 5 or so minutes, wipe it (and all the grime) off with a cloth. Then go over it with a clean microfibre. Does the job perfectly, just takes a bit of time and elbow grease.

Hi,
I cleaned all engines in all my cars and i lt never affected them. I used Dimmer and then pressured water to clean. Then if available, try to use compressor and air nozzle to remove water from any reachable plases. Always worked fine and dlthe difference was awesome. |

No way would I use a pressure washer in my engine bay, the car has over a mile of wiring and stacks of electrical items. No point in taking risks even if calculated and ending up with a problem.
