My X5 a 3.0 Sport diesel, the rear suspension has gone up by about 8-10 inches on its own, was told to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes which may reset everything but no joy, anyone know what would cause this to happen.Cry

Have you asked your local dealer?

Think about what you can do for the club, not what it can do for you...

My E53 does the opposite! Fuse 87 (30amp) in the rear fuse box seems to blow a lot causing the rear to sag. It went to the local dealer whist under warranty but alas all they could diagnose was a blown fuse....no root cause to establish why was undertaken, just the usual plug in and replace the part that appears on the computermabob.

There are any number of issues that affect the rear suspension from straight forward dirty level sensors to odd balls such as the radio signal interfering with the automatic height level check during startup. This one can be fixed by any decent independent garage by accessing the part of the relevant 'brain' and delaying the 'radio on time' by 2 seconds...

When your car is off, is it sat at normal ride height and then extends after start up or is it sat low and then extends to normal height? The latter would suggest a leaking air bag. I found Xdrivers.co.uk a useful resource site for all things X related.
