I've recently purchased this car in view to completing a full restoration. However experience with Bmw engines of this period is not something i have,  the engine itself needs to be rebuilt, if anyone can help with information or knowledge on the matter it will further the project no end.

Thanks,

Robin Jenkins

Luckily, it's a very simple engine to work on and of extremely high quality with some fantastic bits of detail. The sleeved chrome nuts for the rocker covers with retaining circlips is just one.
The problem will of course be finding parts this side of stupid expense but you may find an awful lot of it can be re-used. If you're lucky it will be crankshaft bearing shells, pistons rings, connecting rod studs/nuts and a gasket set.
I had a couple of these engines (a 2.6 and a 3.2) but sold them around 8 years ago.
