I've had the 2012 318i M Sport coupe (E92? manual box) for a few weeks now and I'm fed up with the throttle latency. By 'latency', I mean the time gap between the accelerator being depressed and the engine speed picking up. It's probably half a second or so - it doesn't sound like much but it's enough to make quick take-offs really awkward.

Can anything be done to get this latency down to a sensible level??

I've read about the DBW / Adaptive throttle reset procedure - pressing buttons and pedals etc... sounds like bullsh1t to me and probably just for the auto box? Anyway, I tried one of the many versions of the procedure reported in forums and it made no difference.

Is there any way to improve it?

I've been looking at some of the aftermarket mods like the XLR Pedal Tuning Box:

Do any of them actually reduce latency?

Cheers,
Dave

Not much help I'm afraid but it sounds like turbo lag which is not unusual with modern engines. A re-programme by a tuning company may help.
