Hi all,

Can you advise me if I should extend my BMW Warranty with BMW directly, or if there is another company that will do the same? I bought the car in August 2019 - its a 2010 (F10) 535D M Sport I bought from the BMW dealership. It has always been serviced at BMW by the 2 previous owners, and always had a BMW Warranty.

Any advice and pointers are much appreciated.

My gratitude in advance!

Hi, The warranty on my X5 is due to expire at the end of this month. I bought my E70 X5 2013 40d as a used car from Sytners. It has a full service history, etc. Thinking of taking the comprehensive extended warranty. I too am looking for any feedback on whether this is worth taking out, good or bad. :-)

Hi.
I have a 2011 e90 m sport bought from my local sytner’s, it came with 12 months bmw used approved warranty, i have extended my warranty twice so far through bmw each time it has come up for renewal, costing about £450 each year. I have wondered over that time as to whether it was worth me spending that money for that extra bit of protection if something was to go wrong, and so far up to now i have not had to claim. The vehicle has to meet certain criteria for example mileage, etc they will ask for the mileage upon renewal and it has to be the exact mileage.

Hi,

I bought my G12 740Li from Sytners and extended the BMW one last year, cost was £1,300 odd. I bought it for peace of mind.

I already had to have the ambient light strip across the dashboard replaced under original warranty, that would have been a stupid cost for a strip of LED's.

I'm sure you can get a cheaper third party warranty but you pays your money and takes your choice.

One of the rear massage seats died a couple of months after I extended and was done again under warranty, I think the cost would have been £1,200 on its own so I am glad I took it out. Its due again in September so I'll see what the cost is, but will probably extend it again.

Regards,

Kevin.

My advice would be to put away money each month instead of paying for a warranty. As long as you have bought a decent car and get it serviced to factory specs or beyond, drive it with mechanical sympathy, you are unlikely to be face big bills for problems. I've put away well over £10,000 now by saving £250 per month.

My 2018 X2 has just had its gearbox replaced under warranty at £13k plus, now the window and mirror control unit has failed and is awaiting parts at £???.

My thoughts are you'd be extremely brave to have any F or G series car without warranty... ever...

My engine blew up after 7,000 miles of ownership and BMW put a brand new one in under warranty. Ridiculous that an engine can blow up after a mere 58,000 miles. But, that's BMW's for you I guess. not a fan anymore.

My current 640d Grand Coupe came with a 2 year extend warranty when I bought it in June 2019 (part of a campaign the dealer was running at the time), I'm now thinking as it a very complex car, I should renew the warranty when the time comes, because if anything does go bang it's going to be 4 figures sum very easily.
I did have a pretty good experience of Warranty Direct with my old E70 X5, they paid out for an wheel bearing and engine sensor. If I remember correctly they fully cover the labour but only a percentage of the new part which gets less as the car age's. In both cases the warranty price for the year was covered by the claims i made.

When you say 'blew up' what exactly went wrong with the engine? It would help stop us speculating on all sorts of failures that may have caused your engine to fail.
