Has anyone got any idea why my service lights will not reset.

I have just had my car serviced and when doing the service lights reset, the lights will not come on. It is a local garage and the guy is ex BMW. He has a proper BMW resetting tool and also his own and has tried with both, as well as trying the jump method using pins 19 and 7. The earth is good into the reset port so he is stumped as to why the lights will not reset.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Chappy

A bad earth somewhere else, possibly at the ECU. Kinda ties in with the other electrical gremlins you've had in the past.

Cheers Campbell, I’ll Get Kevin to check it out. He has acquired wiring diagrams and has checked all earths and they all appear to be good bit he did said he would check any suggestions I can find. He knows a couple of guys from his time at BMW who are encyclopaedias when it comes to BMW but they are very hard to get hold of!

It might just be a simple case that they will not reset whilst I still have 2 green lights.

How long are you leaving the connection of pin 7 and 19 connected? Did you have the ignition on position 2?
