Hi all,

Was wondering what is the causes of the rev counter not working on my E30 325i.  Also the mpg indicator is not moving either.  Speed indicator works!I have just purchased this over the weekend!

Foglamps are not working either or the coutesy lights in the roof.  What would be causing this to happen!

To pass MOT this week I have to replace all disc brakes and pads!

The instrument clusters like to play games on E30s.
Could be a loose connection. A poor earth (often one of the nuts on the back is loose). A dry solder joint on the circuit board. The rechargeable batteries age and leak. General damage by previous owners.
Mine started working properly after six hours on the Autobahn had given the batteries a good charge. I also later pulled it out and had it rebuilt including new batteries.

Their soldered onto the extra circuit board that has the Service Indicator display on it.

Bought a old cluster that is working so I can fix my own one!  New batteries ordered! A winter project along with jacking points to be done!

The fuse box contacts was cleaned and put in new fuses sorted the rev counter and mpg indicator!  Also I cleaned the foglight switch and they now work!

Glad you got it fixed. E30's are like that - often very easy to fix once you find out what it is that's broken !
