Does my Classic car need a MOT now? So, I called DVLA who told me to talk to DVSA (formally VOSA) for clarification if my 1974 2002 Tii needs an MOT when it's listed as Historic vehicle, but is lowered. This was the reply, not sure why he needs to tell me his "Heavy"?
"It is not possible to give a definitive answer due to the limited information about what alterations have been made apart from the alteration to the suspension.
Alteration to the suspension is
one of the criteria that dictates that the vehicle will still require an MOT so
I would recommend that you continue to MOT this vehicle. Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer. Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency | Ellipse, Padley Road, Swansea, SA1 8AN Phone: 01792454206"
If in doubt I think the best option is to continue to MOT your classic, I was going to volunteer it each year anyway. |

I guess to be compliant that an MOT is good. But if it is not a legal requirement without declaration I guess some may not bother? How does the DVSA know if alteration have not been declared?
