We carried out a recent poll asking ALPINA owners if they would consider having their car remapped.

52 said no its way fine as it was
7 said yes, why not
9 said no ALPINA would not approve

so whatever model you have would you consider having it remapped or have you and why?

Mapping has differing results depending on the car.
A 118D with the detuned 2ltr Diesel engine with a stage 1 re map goes from 150bhp to 235bhp and the torques are up by a 103nm. This makes the car not only quicker but much more drivable, also improves fuel economy (if you behave yourself).  Would imagine the more powerful the car the less the impact.

Paul, I found the ALPINA was understated bhp the manual says 497 but when I took mine to Thorney Motorsport and put it on the dyno it gave 520.2 and 700 Nm of torque. I decided that was way powerful enough for me, so would not consider doing anything to that car.

However, does remapping effect BMW Warranty and do owners have to inform insurers?

Waited till mine was 3 years old and out of warranty.
Seems to be differing results re insurance some load them as modified but the more specialised companies seem happy to include
