Does any one know if a replacement sensor available anywhere for a Z3M Coupe outside air temperature gauge? BMW can no longer supply a factory item but I wondered if anyone knew of a suitable after market alternative.

hi mike
If you try www.realoem.com & put in the last 7 digits of chassis number, this will give you the part number, then you could try ebay. Also on the realoem website some where it also gives a list of other bmw variants that the part was fitted to. You could also try eurocarparts or quarry motors (bmw breakers) i have had a few parts for my e46 i use to own in the past from quarry motors & found their services very good.

Hope this helps

regards rich

A member on the z3mcoupeforum has found an alternative which I believe is VDO part number 323-805-017-002C . I haven't done this myself but he says it gives an accurate reading

Thanks Rich, I have used Quarry motors myself but they mainly only have the more mainstream parts.
I am constantly asking them for E31 bits but they never seem to have any.
I'll have a go though.
Thanks,
Mike.

Also worth cleaning the old sensor if its giving strange readings as sometime it just corrosion that causes the issue.

hi mike

The other place you could try for a replacement parts is motormec, i have used these in the past for a few parts. It is best to call them as they don't seem to show all parts online.

regards
rich
