Does anyone have any experience of painting the rocker/cam cover and inlet plenum on an E30 M3?

I’m looking for recommendations on what paint should be used to get the matte textured finish.

I’ve recently had mine stripped and powder coated, but despite assurances it would look original, they’ve come back fairly smooth and a bit glossy.

Cheers.

Hi, I used black crinkle paint from Frost restoration, it is very similar to the paint on MG B dashboards. Two or three light coats will be fine, allowing to dry in between coats.

The conditions which I have found to helpful is heat - either an oven or one hot sunny day I sat it out in the august sunshine....

I used satin crackle finish from Harley Davidson but will try frosts next time...

And it has the original look to it
