Please note due to the pathetic and extreme poor response or even no response to events in the Wessex region I shall not be posting anymore personally. If you wish to know any events you can either contact the regional chairman who is Tim Maltby (who is a great guy and helpful) or check your magazine.

Sorry but it just seems like a total waste of time, posting on this forum for this region.

The Car club has a fb page, however members are not able to post things on it, so I guess they would have to contact the club office and tell them to put anything up.

I also would have put up meets that may be of interest to members, although not organised by the club, but have refrained from doing so.

Perhaps its something to discuss at a national/regional meet.

Something along the lines of having regional Facebook pages were members can post things regarding their region.

And a national page which is able to share posts of interest from the regions for all to see.

There are some regions who have a fb page, I am unsure if the Club has set them up or if individuals within those regions have done it themselves?

The Club is now looking at better ways to reach members in this region so that is a positive.

All the local area FB pages you have seen are non-official including my one for Yorkshire & Humberside. Likewise with my trackday page.
The busiest one I have seen is the one for the Scottish Region.

They are the best tool I have ever used for promoting events.

If I want to post about a local meet or a fish n chip run or whatever I use Facebook and instantly I have the message buzzing in peoples pockets.

However, it is not an official channel for club events and one should always post an event in one of the official channels to benefit from the clubs public liability cover... even if no-one reads it, it is worth the effort.

Non official media may have implications for the club in terms of content and insurance liability. I am sure those members who are posting are doing it with the best of intentions but when they use the club name any copyright infringement for example becomes the clubs liability.
