If not, can we find out if there's any interest

I get emails from donington & it's going to be a 3 day event. Fri 28th - 30th April 2017.
The reason for this was by requests as to get more racing in over the 3 days, the Friday will be the qualifying sessions. I can't recall if I had seen a post on here about this event regarding a club stand. If anyone wants any other info about this event then I can post further details from donington emails. Rich, I was asking Dave Evans about this two weeks ago. He was uncertain if the Club would attend. The past couple of years and I have been to both we were at a very unattractive position on the outside of the circuit. It was freezing cold and many people let early after the parade lap. thank goodness for the Club trailer!
The route in under the tunnel was muddy and soaking wet which meant car cleaning again for some. I was in my old E39 so it did not worry me, but I know a few were not too keen on the location. Why not have a chat with Dave Evans and see if he or his colleagues in Central West are organising it? |

Hi Norman
I have been the last 2 years, I remember the first year we were on the starting line area with not many there but it was on a bit of a wet/damp day, that was on the last day of the event though. I do remember having to drive along a gravel track for a fair length & going through the tunnel last year when I went due to the infield location that the club stand was in & there were a few more attendees. I was with my brother last year & due to the weather we decided to go & have a look around the museum as we both hadn't visited it for a long time, not realising there was a shuttle bus running we walked it & got rather wet. A little bit disappointed though as they have taken the motorbikes out & replaced them with military vehicles. I'll just keep an eye out for a while longer to see if anything comes about, if not I'm not really worried but it is a local event to me. Regards |

Rich, I think the original idea was to try and replicate the attendance that is at the Silverstone Classic. However, this does not have the same feel or impact does it?
I rather feel the car clubs are shoved out the way, the event has not had good weather and to be fair that is not its fault, but it does kind of make me think twice about attending again. The parade lap was fun, not sure there is any reason for one this year though. |

I know that the donington historic festival will never be or could be like silverstone classic is & I'm not expecting it to be & I'm sure others that have been to both would agree on, due to the fact donington doesn't really have the scale of ground to fit everything in like silverstone does. Having been to both I would personally have to say I prefer silverstone on a value for money, entertainment & things to see & do perspective. Any event can have bad weather that can't be helped & bad weather doesn't bother me as long as I am enjoying the event, when I went to silverstone classic for the first time about 2 years ago i camped, i arrived on the Thursday & left on the Monday, it did rain & the field did get a bit muddy. I was on my own didn't know anyone that was camping but met a group of track side marshals & spent some time in the evenings drinking beer & chatting with them & thoroughly enjoyed the whole time. To be fair I have been thinking about going to silverstone classic again next year & camping again. Have a great Christmas & New Year πΊπΎπ΄ Edited by rpennington - 18 Dec 2016 at 12:17pm |
