I have a BMW 316 1998 my head gasket needs replacing iam doing it myself but have been advised to get cylinder head skimmed iam in Newcastle Tyne and wear is there a home the could recommend somewhere to get it done at a sensible price also well a couple of questions what is the stud losen and refit pattern torque wrench settings and is there anything I should or shouldn't do I've been told that I should replace the water pump I have never have to do this on any other cars I've done is this true if there is anyone that could give me some advice I would be thank full I am slowly restoring her so any hints tips best place to get parts or have parts for one for sale many thanks Andy

Good man. For a job like this I'd find a forum where someone has a pdf factory manual, as there will be some very precise steps. Have you tried an e36 specific forum ?
