I want to change the alloy wheels on my E88, but I've been told I would need to buy a normal set of tyres as I can't have run flats on 3rd party alloys as they would crack. Is this right..

Hi the problem is that the genuine BMW runflat wheels have an extra lip on , that the runflat tyre molds into this is what keeps it on the rim when it goes flat or suffers a blow out . I presume your E88 came standard with none runflat tyres hence why you have been advised to replace the tyres for standard ones .
basically if you get a flat tyre with a runflat tyre on a none runflat wheel it will still act like a normal tyre and could come off the rim when flat . The wheels have a H2+ on the back of the runflat wheels .
