During 2016 I am looking for an X5 M sport 4.8. Petrol. I am not interested in MPG I am more interested in general condition. My BMW experience is few years ago BMW 840 and two years ago M Sport series 1.
My Budget is £20k. Had a look on Auto Trader and Piston Heads and also my local BMW dealer. I am not interested in diesel. It appears that my age range is 2008 - 2009. I am prepared to wait until the right one comes along. It appears that the history of reliability is very good. If I purchase from a BMW dealer I get a warranty none if purchased from private. I pay £475 RFL and £500 per annum Volvo Warranty. I am looking at £505 RFL. Warranty Direct wanted £900 per annum for X5.
All comments fully appreciated and advice given.

Hi Alasdair, I have a 2007 30.d SE X5, I wanted an M-Sport but the spec of this at my local dealer was fully loaded with pretty much every option on it apart from a tow bar and reversing camera and it was in Space Grey which really suites it. With the Car club's discount I got for just under £20K. I've owned it for 2 1/2 years and on the whole it's been pretty reliable. The issues we've had were as follows, both rear fog lights filled up with water (replaced under the AUC warranty, (a common problem)), continued battery drain messages on the I Drive and various electrical items stopped working like the clock and Sat Nav. Replaced the battery and haven't had an issue since (over a year now) and the final one was a noisy front wheel bearing. Replaced under warranty which was covered by Warranty Directs wear and tear policy. RFL isn't cheap but I pay by direct debit to soften the blow even if it is a slightly more expensive way to pay and tyres aren't cheap. Mine has 20 inch Y spoke ones but I managed to get 20,000 miles out my last set of rears. The X5 replaced an E60 5 Series which was a great car until someone drove into the side of it and wrote it off, but the E70 has on the whole been excellent and initially it was my wife who persueded me to look at one in the first place instead of another 5. We also took ours to the South France on holiday last year and apart from a bit of tyre roar the on the auto route it was a great cruiser. Try one I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
