BMW E24 635CSi Pickup.

This is my 635CSi pickup.

I know its not strictly a CSi now but it was when I bought it 4 years ago as a sad neglected example in dire need of TLC. As I know of only 1 other such conversion, I decided to have a go and I hope that the result isn't too offensive to the E24 gourmets in the club. I will be showing the car this year at club meets in the North and at Gaydon in August. Be pleased to hear any feedback from anyone.

Mike.

I seen some photos of your pick up over on the Big Coupe site .
Pretty impressive and I like it a lot .
May I ask if you have a build thread on it ?

Don asked "...May I ask if you have a build thread on it?"

Sounds to me like a good article (plus pics) for the mag...

I've now had the 635 CSi Pickup for almost 2 years and have taken it to various car shows around the UK - with mostly enthusiastic reception from those who I spoke with.
I suspect there are a few more with whom I did not engage conversation who may think I should be locked up for doing this to a cherished E24-aplogies but no offence intended.
I was recently asked by my daughter-in-law to collect a 'small wardrobe' from a gum tree address near my office.
Are you in the pickup today? I was asked - and as it happened I was and subsequently turned up at said address and loaded up said wardrobe and recorded the event as attached.
The pickup version of the E24 normally causes interest from adjacent motorists and bystanders but on this particular day on the A34 Handforth bypass I couldn't help but notice the I-phones unusually busy for some reason.
My normal payload is garden centre stuff, tip run with soft junk and the Sunday trip to Aldi.
I thought on this occasion, however, the wardrobe incident worthy of a photo to share with my friends on the 6series forum.
Hope it gives a chuckle.
Mike McCourts.
