Here my E30 318is, I only got it back about 3 or 4 weeks ago after getting it re-sprayed, she was away for 20 weeks to the day Unhappy - I was told 3 - 4 weeks ! anyway, I had new springs & shocks done at the same time as 1 of the front springs had collapsed a wee bit, so just got the lot done, I'm happy with the job, wheels still to get refurbed and my new Conti premium 2's put on.
I may get all the suspension & anti roll bar bushes done next, then I may replace bumper rubbers, then maybe not !
Heres a couple of before pics - I don't have any that really show all its bad bits ! butt around all 4 arches + underneath is where it was all happening Thumbs Down

a couple of during's - I have quite a few "during's" but wont bore you with all of that !

and finally a couple of afters Thumbs Up these were taken at the "wheels and Wings show at East Fortune last w/e.

Hi Ian

They are illegal due to no spacing between the 8 & b of which is also an M.O.T failure.

The car does look nice though

Just surprised it passed with them plates Ian as I have worked at main dealers & know mot testers that would have failed it but I guess test stations & testers are all different

Looks a nice paint job & hope the time it took for them to do it reflected in keeping the price down, as I have worked within dealerships with paint shops & if they know customers aren't in a rush to get it back they work on it between jobs & this does sometimes help keep costs down.

Looking Great.

I suppose the tester could have failed so best have a spare 'legal' set in boot for next time just in case ;-)

Car looks great. Not sure about the plates. I was stopped by plod who told me mine were illegal, when I pointed out supplied by Sytner Nottingham and the Nottinghamshire police BMW have same template, he said it was "advisory". Pity I would have enjoyed a day in court at their expense. Plates still on there and 3 MOTs later.

[QUOTE=E30sanchez]Who did the paint work chef? I know your local to me and need some welding and painting done. Looking for quotes at the moment.

Paint and welding done by a wee place in Musselburgh - next to Mrs Formans - used to McBirnie's (bodyshop) many years ago, its a Polish guy who does things the old fashioned way, eg, making / moulding new replacement body parts, he did a good job on all he welding and paint.

rpennington + Norrie, why can you buy plates like that ? surely these on-line number plate places should advise on such things ? ! how am I or anyone else (not in the trade) to know
If plod wants to stop me for that then, I'll just tell em to and catch some real crims !! Wink
I got assaulted by a really weird road rage guy last year, I had witnesses and his reg number, and it was never ever followed up !! Police Scotland said they are too short staffed (and mixed up !) to follow it up

I see plenty of dodgy looking plates where the letters and numbers have been spaced so as to make a name or something !

Plate sellers should sell anything other than the authorised font etc as "show plates". This then puts the responsibility onto the user.

You're right Police Scotland have got far bigger issues than number plates to deal with at the moment. They don't even respond to reports of accidents, leaving folks to die.

But do 33 in a 30 and you're the most terrible criminal ever and should feel the full wrath of the law!

I think you will find that some new ANPR has the technology to recognise non authorised plates and issue a fixed penalty notice and fine of 100 pounds. I am unsure if a warning is issued in the first place.

People who sell number plates are sometimes not always legally complaint and will make them knowing they are incorrect, it is alleged and they only want your money.

Mikes right on this - the ANPR system would still read that - I have seen it read the side of trucks - however the spacing and font is specified for a reason - i have seen a lot worse so you may just get told to change them - so maybe worth buying some legal ones with the BS number for the next mot ...sorry

I bought new plates for my E30 a few weeks ago. I tried a few on-line plate makers first to see who gave the best prices. All of them made it very clear that you could either buy road legal BS marked plates (and no options for silly fonts, spacing etc), or show plates which are not road legal (with a vast choice of silly fonts, styles, colours, backgrounds etc).
I have bought plates for US and German registered cars, and didn't even attempt to navigate the maze for Dutch registered cars. Compared to these countries the UK system is quite straight forward and user friendly. I found it was very clear what the requirements are, and have little sympathy for people who get pulled or fined for not having legal plates.

I won't be happy. Just don't expect me to be sad either. Like many others I don't find your plates objectionable. Like many others I doubt they are BS labelled road legal plates either.

What really bugs me is silver on black plates on cars that don't deserve them...

There is a trend at present that I have noticed where "supercar" owners do not even fit a front number plate...and seem to be getting away with it!

Think about what you can do for the club, not what it can do for you...
