Topic: Aluminum Pedals on 35i DCTPosted: 04 Oct 2011 at 8:15pm |

Hi Guy's I wondered if anybody can put me out of my misery? I tried to order some sporty Aluminum pedals for my E89 35i with DCT. I'm being told by BMW UK that because my car has the option S2TCA, which I believe to be the sport twin clutch gearbox, the pedals are not available for my car. See response from BMW
All I would like to know is why does the gearbox affect what pedal accessories can be fitted, or not in this case. Your comments would be appreciated. Regards Bazza |

The footrest (dead pedal) will be a different shape for LHD cars, as it is mounted on the opposite side of the car. Perhaps BMW did not think Z4 sales in RHD markets wouold be sufficient to justify making special pedal covers.
You could try after-market suppliers such as AC Schnitzer etc. - but remember to inform your insurer, as mjost are quite sensitive about aluminium pedal covers, due to the possibilityof shoes slipping on them when wet. Those with TuV certification will be OK. Edited by Mike Fishwick - 05 Oct 2011 at 12:03pm |

Seems an odd situation to me. I have a friend in a parts department at
another dealer - I can try and get a second opinion (and a reason if
they really are unavailable) if you like. Let me know your car details by pm if you're interested.

Hi Guy's, Thanks for the response. I've virtually given up on the BMW parts now but I did call BMW UK just for the hell of it and asked why these are not available for the 35i with DCT so I'm waiting for a response from them later. The parts manager from Elms did send me this the other day, which I found interesting but it still didn't explain fully the problem, and I quote I have looked into this problem at great lengths and I do see your point. I personally don’t think it is the gearbox that is the problem but the accelerator pedal. They use a different pedal on a car which has option S2TCA (sports gearbox with twin clutch). I have checked other vehicles with this option and they do list aluminium pedal covers for these cars (part no. 35.00.0.304.643) but just not a E89 Z4 with this option. There must be a some reason why these don’t fit this model but I can’t give you answer why. Anyway, I looked at the Hartge part as well and got this back from them
The Hartge pedal set can be installed on this car, but I would not recommend, as we have to make a bracket to capture the bottom part of the pedal to make secure. Also, the Hartge footrest is not suitable for RHD models We don't have any other solution. The AC Schnitzer and 3D design parts are nice but very expensive for what they are. The only others I've seen are M Style, which are competitively priced, so it may be theirs if a can be bothered now Regards Bazza |
