Hi,
Now own an E36 1998 318is coupe & a 1993 325i Cabriolet: so can manage a direct comparison? Not really - the cab is 254lbs heavier than the 318is!

First impression is that the 318is is more nimble and easier to wind up! Lighter feel with lighter controls. The 325i M50 engine sounds brilliant: such a brilliant growl, and popping sound when slowing down! and pulls along nicely: but to my surprise feels like a bit of a tank: the clutch and steering are a lot heavier! I would wind it up more (still not used to it) but the mpg is scary in comparison with the 318is! Presently getting 25mpg in the 325i!! with a heavy foot.
Does anyone have any similar experiences.
Thanks,

Adrian.

As you say, hard to get a comparison with a 4 pot & a 6 pot, especially with a vert & a coupe, 2 completely different things.
I wouldn't mind getting a comparison between my 323 coupe & a 325 coupe, the M50 having 20 more bhp, but the M52 being more tourquey (sp) that would be good fun.
