Calling all i8 owners to join the i8 Register stand at either, or both Supercarfest shows. The organisers recognise the i8 as a Supercar and we will be rubbing shoulders with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Bugattis, Koenigseggs, Maseratis, M3CSLs
Booking for the stand must be made via a link which I can send you, please do not just book using the links in the website as that will not get you a stand place.

On the basis that Alpina vehicle are not restricted to 155 mph do they qualify as a supercar, some models are 205 mph

Alpinas do not show on the organisers list of eligible cars.

Not surprising, probably the most under rated cars in the world

Alpinas or not really noticed by people who don’t already know what an Alpina is!

Ignorance is common, most BMW Main dealerships struggle. Sytner the sole franchisee since 1983. Its all coming to a sad end next year. Lets hope BMW dont turn it into the same way Jaguar is going. However, if whoever are the organisers of the event you are promoting dont know at a 205 mph road car unmodified after delivery from factory is a supercar then have a nice day.

Perhaps if you contact the organisers and suggest they include Alpinas as well as the Csl and M series you may be successful for the later Superfcarfest “The Track” at Mallory Park next year.

Hi Chris. I conducted a survey in the Alpina Owners group. Most agree that Alpina does not qualify as a supercar despite their performance and top speed.

However, the majority did not see the i8 as qualifying either in fact no BMW of any model was considered to be suitable.

Like all events the organisers can switch the rules to suit themselves, there does not seem to be a definite answer. This also seems to apply to the term classic 20 years, 30 years, 40 years?

I hope you enjoy the event as Alpina owners we have plenty in 2025 to attend in the marques 60th year.

Now my friend who is a very senior engineering management person for Mclaren and an Alpina owner tells me due to the design of the i8 it is a supercar. He is the expert and I am not , so he is right, you are right and the organisers are right. However I shall not be attending as a spectator as I am clearly not a supercar fan and even less of a fan of i cars.
