Hi, I'm a new member from Doncaster, just bought my second BMW and going through the problems one by one. I have a 65 Mustang fastback, a Austin Healey 3000, an Austin Seven and Suzuki lj80 jeep so I'm used to "issues" but it's becoming increasing difficult to maintain them

Nice one Pishadeperro
There are still spares availabe from BMW and specialist dealers around the world. Usually at a price, but most car fims don't have the spares service that BMW has.
Hoping to see you at one of our pub meets at Howden, just up the road, or Chesterfield just down a bit.
Or the last meet at Sturton-le-Steeple.
Full details on the ergional page at: http://www.bmwcarclubgb.uk/regions/eastern.html
Best wishes and welcome aboard.

Hi James,
Mine is a 330 saloon fro 2005, one of the early E90s. I wanted an E36, but one was not available at the time. Have fun driving it.

Just wanted to say a quick hello to you all. I have my first BMW so I’m not as clued up on it as most of you will be no doubt hence joining! I’ll no doubt ask lots of silly questions so be warned

I’ll try to get a pic on later because that’s all we really want to see

No question is silly if you don't know the answer.
Feel free to ask. Someone will usually answer it for you.
I am going to ask one in the 7 series forum shortly.

Sorry for the delay in welcoming you to the Forum Pishadeperro from another Doncaster resident.
Would be good to have you and your BMW along for the Doncaster show in July.

I'm glad to have found this forum. Quite a bit of the activity appears to be around the newer cars, whereas I really like the older ones... Well, I actually like new BMWs as well, but what I am currently looking for is an E28 (or possibly an E12). I see there's a modest but useful E28 section, in which one of the posts tells me that I've just missed the Sharknose Technical Day in Kent, which might have been useful for me to join, although I am based in the North West (Lancaster) so it would have been a bit of a hike.

Why the E28? As I child I always admired it, and before that also the E12. Following a search that has taken several years I have finally acquired a garage, and am now looking for something to put in it. My taste is pretty much all over the place, and includes E21s as well, but the E28 is especially high on the list. An E12 would be nice too, but rust free examples seem very rare, and prices are consequently pretty unpredictable.

Engine-wise, an 535i/M535is/M5s would be out of my budget and I like a more understated look anyway, without any spoilers. A 520i, 525i, 525e or 528i in good, rust-free condition would all be fine, as would in fact a 518i, but that would need to be manual. Finally, I'm not a fan of Alpine white, Safari/Gazelle beige or Henna/Zinnobar red.

Having waited so long for a garage I'm perfectly happy to take my time in looking for the right car, but if anyone on here knows of (or even might have) a solid E28/E12 for sale with reasonably low miles then do please let me know, either in this thread or via PM. Incidentally, as I was writing this, Mark Cox, the E28 Register Chair, whom I had emailed separately, kindly got in touch with me and pointed me to the 520i that is also mentioned in a post on the E28 section. I will look into this car for sure, but any other leads would still be appreciated as well Smile

Hello and greetings from Finland!

Decided to join the club, as it happens to be, that i will be moving to Edinburgh the upcoming fall, and it would be great to be in touch with you, the local enthusiasts.

I have been a BMW enthusiast for all my life, and my first ever touch to BMW´s happened right as i was picked up from the hospitals birth-department by my dad with his then new E28! And by the way, i still do have that same E28 in my collection even today!

As said, i have been an enthusiast for all my life, and it is awesome that i have also been lucky enough to collect some interesting BMW pieces to my own garage. I have been mostly enthusiastic about the so called youngtimer models, and my current collection varies all the way from for example E30 B3 2.7 Alpina Cabriolet to E34 M5 Hartge. I have also been interested in very basic model cars with special histories, like the E28 my dad bought new that i still have, or another E28 520i from the first owner with only 17k miles on the clock! If the brief glimpse to my garage raised interest, you can check out my instagram, @torkkelilauri, for more! Thumbs Up

As said, i will be moving to Edinburgh this fall and i will be living there at least for a year or so. This of course means, that i think i will have a lot of questions for you concerning the everyday life with cars, things like insurance policies etc. I will of course also try and provide some interesting BMW-related content to you and visit as many meets and other activities as possible!

As one can determine, my BMW´s will be left to my garage in Finland as i leave. However, i already have something interesting planned concerning my stay! At first i thought, that i might bring my E92 daily to Edinburgh with me, but i quickly came to a conclusion that i wouldn´t enjoy driving the E92 at all, as to begin with, the steering wheel is on the wrong side Wacko This got me thinking about the UK youngtimer markets, and through my friend i happened to stumble across a very interesting and unique RHD E36 Motorsport -department product. However, as the deal on the car hasn´t been closed yet, i wont be telling you any further details at this point Wink

Well! Hope to meet as much of you during my stay as possible, get to enjoy the UK BMW culture and maybe even bring something with me from the Finnish BMW culture!

Cheers!

You should also post in the Scottish Region section of the forum to get some attention from the locals.

The steering wheel on the wrong side is not a big problem. I brought my LHD E46 back with me form Holland and drive it in the UK without problems.

Hi, I'm Matt and thought I'd join the club as I've recently purchased my first BMW. It's a Melbourne red m235i auto which so far I'm pleased with. I'm located in Berkshire and will hopefully get to some events next year.

A very good choice of cars, you have two of the best there ! Also nice to see that you kept the alarm lock as part of the restoration - too many people think they are aftermarket and remove it.
