I have a similar phone in my 2000 E46 (and no, I'm not selling it !). If you get the parts it should still work. They only work on some phone frequencies (GSM 900Mhz if I remember right) so you will need an O2 or Vodafone network SIM, or someone who uses these networks. Also a big credit card sized SIM (Vodafone still supply them like this
to pop out). Put your SIM in and sellotape it in place. I was using a Tesco PAYG SIM in a Vodafone card, but hadn't used it through storage and lockdown so Tesco cancelled the number. I'm going to try an Asda SIM instead as I don't want a monthly phone bill for what is essentially just a toy.

It was a BMW branded Motorola handset I believe, common to many models.
I could be wrong, but a quick search indicates the part number is 84116907670. Whack that in to Google and you should find a few for sale on eBay or the like. |

I have just acquired a 1978 registered 728i without a phone handset that at some point has been removed from the cradle and plug cable still there. There doesn’t appear to be any identification of the phone’s make/model.
Can anyone give me a steer on this? I realise that the technology is well out of date and probably unusable but even so it would look ether to have one in position. Thanks.
