Hi all. I'm thinking of buying a 2018 218 convertible. I was just wondering how reliable the roof mechanism is and what I need to do to keep it in top shape. Any advice would be really appreciated! Are there any known issues with the roof or rest of the car?

Thanks!

Dave

I have a 2016 Z4 with the metal folding roof and have had no issues. The 2 series has the 'material' roof which has a much simpler folding mechanism and should therefore be at least as reliable or even more so.

Hi Dave
With regards to caring for the roof. If you garage the car, don’t leave the roof down if it is wet as this will cause it to go green & mouldy & also if you get a cleaner & waterproofer, this will help to care for the roof to keep it in good condition.

Regards
Rich

Dave

With regards to looking after your roof, I avoid parking under trees. Tree sap is a nightmare. Renovo produce good cleaning and protection products. If your roof looks good now, look after it. To do a proper strip, clean and protect is hard work. FYI, be careful using the waterproofing sprays, where a mask as it pretty nasty stuff.
