If i posted in the wrong section please move my topic, but don't delete it.. i have e 320d , i just changed turbo, but yesterday while driving the car accelerate by herself at 6000 and stopped. I put it on tester, tester showed me one sparking plug and fuel filter . The fuel filter can be the problem? Please help me with this.

Is this serious? A diesel engine with a 'sparking plug,' and a possible blocked fuel filter causing the engine to run at peak rpm . . . Sounds like a wind-up to me!

Diesels don’t have spark plugs they have glow plugs & if it was a glow plug failure,it would probably have the squirly light come on the dash when engine is running. Has the fuel filter got dirt inside?

Not every owner (am I include myself) knows about the technical side of their car. If they use the incorrect terminology and have come to a conclusion that it might be "this" or "that", cut them some slack?
We have to be help to try and help each other, is that not part of the club ethical friendship? |

Yes Norman - but if people ask for help, an accurate description helps a lot! So many people only give half of the story when asking for help. Anyway, a diesel engine running away after a turbocharger replacement would never be caused by a choked fuel filter - one would not blame a blocked water filter for one's washing machine overflowing . . . I would look at the turbine nozzle ring, which could have stuck in the full speed position, which on a reconditioned unit may be due to poor assembly.

Mike I understand that to give a precise answer the more detail given help, but that's part of the issue probably the questioner does not know exactly how to ask the question. Edited by Norrie - 04 Jun 2019 at 8:46am |
