E83 X3 2.0d Turbo

Hi Folks, 
I am new to the BMW Car Club but have been a BMW enthusiast for many, many years.

I wonder if anyone would be good enough to help me with some technical info for a BMW X3 which I purchased back in May of this year.

It is an E83 2.0 diesel first registered in Oct 07 but manufactured in March 07.

As I do not know the full history on this vehicle I am keen to change the oil feed pipe for the turbo unit in case it is blocking up with sludge, as I understand this can lead to the expensive replacement of the turbo.

I would be most grateful if anyone can provide any technical information regarding the complexity of this task.
