    Posted: 11 Apr 2018 at 6:32pm
I've got a problem looming with the immobiliser on my 1994 E36 325i Cabrio.  It's the Anti-Theft 3 system;  the immobiliser is deactivated by a small rectangular fob (about 50x15x10mm) with an LED on the side, which is pressed over the top of a red, flashing LED on the dash and, when the dash LED stops flashing, the engine can start.

My problem is that the deactivating fob is becoming less reliable, as if an internal battery is failing but the appears no way the thing comes apart to replace one. Soon it is going to pack up completely and I'm going to be left stranded.

I've spent weeks phoning the world for help:  BMW don't support the system any more (suggesting I try Ebay!) and none of the five classic BMW specialists will touch it, all suggesting an authorised BMW dealer.  Round in circles.

Does anyone know whether the little fob does have an internal battery and, if so, how to get it apart?

Or anyone have any idea where I could turn for help?
