With its carbon accents added to an already stunning example, this month’s COTM has to go to the F87 M2.

Even without these features, the M2 boosts an edgy look within the front bumper styling and indents vertically down the rear corners. Carly wanted to keep the edge going so we added a few more carbon touches to this white-as-snow beauty.

MStyle’s Carbon Fibre Bumper Inserts and Carbon Fibre Front Splitters really add to the edge of the face of the car. The contrast against the freshly smoothed and re-sprayed front bumper, gives the M2 a sleek but feisty look.

Carrying on the carbon detailing to the side of the car, we added MStyle Carbon Fibre Mirror Covers to complement the Carbon Sideskirt Winglets. Having put on some aftermarket alloys recently, she wasn’t quite happy with the fit so we used Bimecc spacers to adjust the offset which has now filled in those arches quite nicely.

Moving to the rear, Carly really wanted to show she meant business when leaving rival racers in a cloud of dust. By adding 3D Design’s Racing Rear Wing, she’s done just that, completing her edgy yet elegant styling for her M2. Amazing stuff!

Is the rear wing just to make it look something the owner likes or is there any proof it actually works? Does this person track their car, or is this just how they want it?

Hi Norman,

By adding a rear wing, greater downforce improving traction helps to put down the M2's 365bhp to the rear wheels. Regarding this wing, the best way to have tested this would have been taking test runs before and after adding the rear wing but unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to do this. The manufacturer - 3D Design would however thoroughly test that their products do improve performance. We would recommend adding a wing depending on make/model and providing that you are also running a good set of performance tyres and your car is properly maintained, rear wings do show to enhance 1/4 mile times. However, without being able to test this particular mod ourselves, the owner was still very happy with the aesthetic finish it gave and uses it as a daily driver rather than for track use.

Thanks for the reply very interesting, as a matter of business practice do you inform customers to tell their insurers that they have modified their cars? I am not commenting on the aforementioned conversion, just generally.

It would be indeed a real issue if someone was not correctly insured due to technicality.

I have had this issue myself with tyres as only Michelin had been tested on my ALPINA, however after some discussion the insurer has agreed that Pirelli can be used 21 inch.

Insurers always look for a way out, so am interested in your reply. I know it is not your obligation.

Thanks for your response Norman. We do inform customers that modifications need to be declared with their insurers. However there are several insurance companies that actually encourage modifications and will cover the cost of aftermarket parts in the event of theft/damage. Companies such as Greenlight or Sky Insurance actually tend to reduce the cost of your quote with modifications as they appreciate that we are car enthusiasts and care for and maintain our motors well. So it's definitely worth shopping around to find the right company for you.

Hope this helps and good luck with your future modifications!

Thanks, this is interesting information, I personally had no idea that was possible and I am sure it may well be of value to many members reading this.

This would make a good article for the Club mag, perhaps I should come an visit you by arrangement and find out what it is all about and the reason why people choose your service?

Personally, I have to confess I am a person who 100% like originality, but that is just me, clearly I have a lot to learn?
