Some years ago now I restored my dad's E3 2500A, took about two years all told and was a full on body restoration.
Recently I purchased an e12 528i, purely for the factory fitted air con and carpet to go into my e12 M535i. The e12 ran but smoked like you would not believe and I therefore dismissed keeping the engine, until a friend of mine recommended a compression test, the paperwork with the car suggested that it had only covered 55000 miles, the test proved all ok. Turns out someone had put diesel in the tank, i drained the fuel and put in fresh, no more smoke
This e12 528i is auto as my e3 and it got me thinking, how difficult would it be to transplant the Ljet 2.8 into my E3 2500?

Needless to say I have started preparing a list of potential pitfalls, here is where I am so far:

1. Conversion to fuel injection requires pump, tank sender and twin fuel lines donated from the e12 (Sender fits tank)

2. E3 tank will require venting to an expansion tank (E12 expansion tank can be used)

3. ECU and engine wiring loom will require adaption to the e3 fues box (I have the wires from the e12)

4. Wire from fuse box to electric e12 pump.

If anyone else has can see other complications your input would be appreciated. This conversion will gain 36 BHP, and I just want to see if I can do it!!
