Morning,

Just a quick update to say that yesterday I successfully replaced one of the rear bags on the e70.

I followed this guide;

http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/x5-e70-forum/93092-replacing-rear-air-spring-suspension-component-x5-e70.html

Found it useful and straightforward, the job took about 2 hours, most of the time being spent trying to find safe points for my axle stands to sit.

The worst part was starting the car up after replacing the bag, whilst still on stands.  All manner of strange fizzing and popping noises followed by a few never before seen warning messages.

After a couple of minutes they settled down, only to reappear when car was started on all 4 wheels.  After a short break (five minutes for coffee and a head scratch) car started fine and bag inflated fine.

Took her on a 30 mile test run and everything working as it should.

Out of interest, the old bad showed significant wear along its bottom edge, analysis of the other side at the same spot did not show this level of wear, I wonder if the previous owner did something unusual like park on a kerb to produce this level of wear.

Anyway job done, LOL

Next week going to go at the headlights from the wheel side (as the clips to retain headlights have come off) and replace the H8's with LED's.
