Just a reminder that now the shows are on the forum and if you want to go to any of them please ensure that you have renewed your membership as there are a few on the list have expired and you require to be a member to attend the shows.
If new people want to go the shows you must be a car club member to attend but its easy to join!

Steady on,
There's plenty of us in the club that wouldn't go that far.

Issy, good post. I am all for members only attending events. Sure if someone new comes along then encourage them to join. This is a general comment not related to any region or register.

The Board have now, stopped selling club sticker including regional and register ones to non members!

Also those members who are alleged to have given the discount codes to non members are not doing the Club any favours. I was dismayed to hear the non members have parked on the Club stand at Silverstone last year?

It's how we have done things in Scotland for years. Members only at car shows and very occasionally invited guests but there has to be good reason for that.

It can be a fine balance, we have had non paid up members who have attended a few meets and want to experience shows come along but only if there is space and only if the general feeling is that they would want to attend more, at which point it is reiterated to them that they must be a member to attend from that moment on.

This works very well for us and now when we put a stand on, we have a stunning and varied array of vehicles but most importantly we have forged great friendships.

Yes, I raised the sticker situation after it was brought to my attention a chap had recreated the older style without permission and was selling them at 4.50 each on ebay. He was contacted and has ceased this and removed the advert, I am advised.

I then looked into the sticker situation further and discovered anyone could buy them, member or not. I raised this with the Board and it has now ceased.

I do agree it can be a fine balance, but there are clearly people who enjoy and join in club events with no intention in joining, that means legitimate members are indeed subsidising them.

It is for this reason I should like to see a larger disparity in the Gaydon entrance fee for non members, for example. Join and receive the benefits or don't and pay extra to attend our events.

Wow, I cannot believe what I have just read! The club were selling membership stickers to the general public?!?!? Well I never! Another member benefit which has gone! I am very glad that this practice has been stopped and I truly hope the decision has also been made to bring back the small window sticker and get rid of the big horrid region one which no one wants!!  AngryAngry

Issy, we have discussed the old style shield sticker and this was the one for all registers and regions the chap was reproducing and selling on ebay. Howard Walker is looking at the viability of reproducing the original ones, please email him and ask for them, it will help the decision.

I don't mean the shield one I mean the small one of the current badge as per the one at the top of the page and in my signature. That one should be reinstated as it is current with the club branding. No one likes the large regional version!
