John O Groats to Land = 837 miles
Possible on 1 tank of diesel with 730d F01 (facelifted)? The maths works = 837miles @ 50MPG = 16.74 gallons = 76 litres used 80 litre tank. Love to here peoples thoughts and also would like to try it later in the year. |

Keeping at roughly the same speed constantly it may be possible, also taking into account laden weight of vehicle(passengers/luggage) & traffic.
I remember a couple of years ago I managed to get about 48mpg out of my E46 323i auto on a trip of about 150 miles on a mix of motorways,A & B roads, I was the only person in the car if I recall, but I can't recall doing it again since. There's only one way to find out is to do it & I look forward to hearing the results. Regards Rich |

I doubt it, every been there? Once you get past Inverness its a lot of very twisty roads and no passing places. Plus imagine when happens when at some point you are stuck in traffic on a motorway. Good economy though.

It's not too difficult if you....
1. Go into ECO PRO mode 2. Set ECO Pro Speed limit to 55 or 60mph 3. Drive for 20 miles or more 4. Follow the instructions ECO Pro instructions as they flash up Can get a bit dull though :-) |

I assume that this is just a theoretical type journey, i.e. just using one tankful of fuel. I was always under the impression that it was a bad idea to run the fuel right down to the 'dregs'. Quote from the User Handbook:-
"Refuel no later than at a range of 30 miles/50 km, or operation of the engine is not ensured and damage may occur." |

I can do Yorkshire to Great Yarmouth and back on less than 1/2 a tank so it might be possible

I had a 2014 730D until about 6 months back. I could regularly go from Huddersfield to London and back on the motorway averaging 55mpg. Doing it in Scotland would be a different thing altogether. While most roads in Scotland are under 200 metres above sea level, there are lots of twists and turns, so you would have to really work at it I think. Could be worth a try though.

It would not work for me in my ALPINA its 4.4 V8 supercharged, if I don't boot it I get around 25 mpg which is not bad for this vehicle. So I would run out of fuel.
