Hi warren
I'm not sure if this website will be of any help to what you are looking for but maybe it's worth a look.

So there is a:
1992 Convertible for a 325i
1990 Convertible for a 325i
and one just labelled 1991, says for 318i

Ive got a 1991 320i - so is the wiring diagram for a 1990 325i the same?

You do not tell us what wiring diagrams you have looked at - the only reliable diagrams are those on the BMW Electronic Troubleshooting CD on the link above - which is a rather grandiouse name for a collection of wiring diagrams!  As the diagrams are split into sub-systems it should not be difficult to decide which model year suits your car, but remember the diagrams are for US-market cars, and may have a few differences from thos destined for the UK.

Remember that the BMW model year begins in September, after the summer hols - this means that a car built beween the beginning of September and the end of December 1991 will be a 1992 model, and the wiring diagrams etc will be those of a 1992 model.  Likewise, it is just possible that a car sold/registered in early 1991 may be a 1990 model.

Look at the date of manufacture label, on the offside strut tower -  forget about the date of initial registration and sale, which are not always a reliable guide.

Hello and happy new year.

BMW Classic have supplied me with a part number as below, is that weblink what is on the CD then?

"Wiring diagrams for classic BMW vehicles including the E30 series can be found on a CD-ROM which is available through the BMW dealerships just like a spare part. The order No. is 01 56 0 035 852."

It's specifically the wiring for the switchable automatic transmission i require, other models have pure hydraulic controls.

I can't see anything like that on those links.

There is no date of manufacture on the offside strut tower - where else would that be?

Cheers again.

Warren

ou could give the last seven digits of the VIN to a dealer, who can print out the options list, which gives the manufacture date with lots of other bits of information.

286 - Bmw Lm Rad/bmw Styling
Alloy Wheels, I think bottletops

350 - Waermeschutzglas Gruen, Rundum
Green tinted windows all round, pretty normal on a convertible. Some E30s had brown tint, some (base models) have no tint

375 - Stoffverdeck Elekt.mech.schwar
Electric roof, black
