Hi everyone.
Just recently paid my membership and have joined up. My name is Mike and I live in Rayleigh, Essex. In September I bought my first BMW, which happens to be an E60 M5: (I've blurred the plate personally for confidentiality, I know this is an owners forum of course but you never know who could be looking) Immediately after purchasing it, I took it to a local BMW Specialist garage primarily made up of ex-BMW technicians. They gave the car a full inspection/check over and they said they haven't seen an E60 M5 in this condition for quite a while. While it was in there it had an oil and filter change using 10w60 Castrol fully synthetic oil, just for piece of mind it has fresh oil in there. Spec/Overview: - 2006/06 BMW M5 E60 (Duh) - SMG-3 7 speed gearbox - S85B50 V10 engine. - 45,700 genuine miles - Space grey? Or is it just metallic grey? - Black leather interior with brushed aluminium interior trims. - 2 previous owners - Full BMW/Specialist service history and was bought as an approved BMW used car. - Full clean bill of health from BMW just before I purchased it from the previous owner. - Has extended warranty until November 2017. - Recently replaced throttle body actuators by previous owner. - Recent new clutch and flywheel. - Original and unmodified. More photos: The police were arresting one of Southend On Sea's finest in the background lol: Must say I am absolutely chuffed to bits with it, I have always had a soft spot for the E60 M5 because of the iconic V10 engine. I did consider an E92 M3 but I just thought I would like to go all out and go for the M5. Future plans I just aim to keep it original and clean and try and get it looking how it looked the day it left the factory, so that means I will get a proper detail/paint correction done on it and remove a few little stone chips here and there. The only modification I plan to do is get some RPI intake scoops just to let it breathe a bit better as the standard intake method is a little bit restrictive or so I have read up. Apart from that I don't really want to ruin it with mods e.g. lowering and remapping it etc, I'm happy with how it is now. I'm also planning to keep it maintained to the highest standard possible, I'm going ti change the SMG gearbox and diff oil shortly to keep them healthy. Originally I wanted to get an Interlagos blue one, but I couldn't find one that didn't have starship miles or in good enough condition (by my standards which are quite high) It's only a weekend car as well. So it doesn't really move much, at the time of writing this I'm going to be keeping it off the road as much as possible over the winter and not expose it to the crappy salty UK roads. When the weather improves I plan to try and get along to the monthly meet in the Essex area and hopefully get to meet some other of you like minded owners :) No doubt I'll also try and get a long to some shows next year with you all once I find what there is on the calendar. I really look forward to hearing some of your comments/feedback and hopefully meeting/getting to know some of you soon. :) Kindest Regards, Michael. |

Hi Rich and thank you :) appreciate the kind words.
And no it wasn't actually a cruise or boy racer meet that night, I thought I'd pull up and get a photo. The amusements and arcades on the seafront are a good place to take photos imo because of the bright fluorescent lighting. But yeah still a boy racer spot as usual I normally avoid there at all costs lol. Edited by mr.eldridge - 12 Nov 2016 at 6:28pm |

The photos look great & I know how bad it was for the seafront cruisers when I lived down that way, that's one of the reasons that barrier was put in down near the esplanade pub to make them go the long way round of which I thought was a great idea.
I also used to avoid the area most of the time too, but did used to get some try & get me to race them because of the car I had at the time. Regards Rich |
