I have been fortunate to have use of the B4 bi turbo ALPINA and the Diesel version D4 bi turbo. Both cars have the hard top which electronically folds down, however the boot space is very limited as is the space behind the driver and passenger seat. I had the petrol version first, it makes some wonderful exhaust noises when accelerating from 0-50 mph and is very rapid, the D4 is slightly less noisy.
Both cars have an 8 speed auto transmission and the ALPINA switchtronic buttons on the steering wheel. All gear changes are smooth and seamless, it is very very responsive. Whilst these cars are really great fun and even better with the roof down, if you can find sunshine, they are pretty impractical. Both over 60K new, they are attracted to a specialised market and if you have spare cash and want a high performance vehicle for summer fun, these are for you. The hard top when up offers no wind noise or any sense that the car is just not a solid top car. It has been a pleasure to have both and drive over 500 miles in each, but my money would still go for the new B5 which will appear in 2017 or the new B7 which is out out. |

Hi Norrie.
What a great experience to have to use both and a great review. Great pictures of them both too! |
