    Posted: 21 Aug 2017 at 9:34am
For the September Monthly meet we are going to recreate the early morning drive we did for the relay event last year so we are going to go for a drive to Inverness for Breakfast! (This was Cambell's idea btw so don't blame me! LOL)
The plan is we will leave the East (Tranent / Port Seton area) at 5am (yes, you read that correctly, 5am Confused) and we will be at Stirling Service around 5.45am to leave at 6am sharp. We will then head up to Inverness on a planned route via Glencoe and we will hopefully be on the outskirts of Inverness in time for breakfast! Once I know numbers I will arrange a place to stop. I will try and do a route back avoiding the A9 but that will be shared on the day. This will be a great day out!
If anyone wants to meet us en route just let me know and we can arrange to pick you up at a designated place. (Crianlarigh is a good place to wait for us for those from the west)
I hope some folk who don't normal make the meets can join us especially those from the Inverness area.

Add your name to the list as normal.

I'll be attending Grantown MotorMania - http://www.grantown-motormania.co.uk

Could be worth swinging by on your way back south?  Entry is full at 500, so sadly you can't display but lots to see

I really want to do this..... but we got a winning ticket for the bridge walk so will be doing that. This does sound like a great run, one id like to do sometime.

We were looking forward to this but sadly Michele will not be able to travel any distance yet and I will have to stay close by to keep an eye on her. Apologies again, we will miss out on a great day😥

What is your ETA at Crianlarich ? do you think meet up at 07.30 is realistic and leave 08.00 sharp ?

If we are leaving Stirling Services at 6am sharp, I'd expect to be passing Crianlarich by 7am.

Correct, we wont be stopping at Crianlarich those meeting us there be in the long car park opposite the hotel on the A85 for 7am and we will pick you up on the way past. See below. Please bring your radios.
We hope to be in Inverness by 9.30 when we will stop for breakfast at the Premier Inn / Beefeater Glenurquhart Rd, Inverness IV3 5TD. I will advise them nearer the time of numbers.

This is going to be a whole day out and I have been looking at a route back and as far as mileage goes all routes are much about the same. So we have a choice...

1. Back the way we go up
2. Via Aviemore and the A9
3. Via Nethybridge and go over the Tomintoul road to Glenshee

Obviously we will plan stops throughout the day!

Those going thoughts please?

If you're going back Glenshee (the only real choice IMO), it doesn't add on much to take the B9006 from Inverness past Culloden, then the B9090/9091 to take the A939 south across Dava Moor, then on towards Tomintoul etc.  The Dava Moor section is ace.

One thing to note about the A93 at Glenshee - they've recently resurfaced the section between the Ski centre and Spittal.  This used to be a terrible section of bumpy tarmac, which was horrendous in a car with stiff suspension.  Now lovely and smooth.

That's the route I was looking at! Wink
Glenshee would be my choice too! Clap
Last time we went to Glenshee it had been resurfaced and what a difference it made!

Returning via Glenshee sounds good to me :-)

I can't sadly, as I'm displaying one of my cars at Grantown Motor Mania that day.  Which is on your route 3 back...

On the subject of petrol, there is currently no station at Aviemore (it's being rebuilt), so plan that in.  Fill up in Inverness and that's probably your lot on the way back until Blairgowrie

That was my plan, I made it to Inverness on 3/4 of a tank last time.

Route 3 it seems to be then!

I am surprised there has not been more uptake on this one given the enthusiasm at the AGM when it was discussed!

Hopefully a few more will join us and sign up! Thumbs Up
