I know I am a bit of a luddite, particularly where electric cars are concerned, having great doubts as to the ability of any dealer - BMW or otherwise - to diagnose even the most basic fault in a logical and economic manner.
However, I am probably not alone in wondering about the prices of the various items which comprise the power train and its control gear, and the repair philosophy behind them - are the various items sybject ro an exchange service, or repair by new? I appreciate that loyal BMW buyers are assumed to have more money than sense, dutifully trading in their expensive new car evey couple of years or so. This of course means that they will soon reach the used car market, when unreliability is bound to appear, and the owners will be those who have to count their money carefully. So - rather than the usual BMW propaganda about these cars, how about giving a rough estimate of repair costs, and the ability of BMW dealerships to apply logical diagnostic skills, the level at which repair can be made (major or minor sub-assembly, component, or entire system levels) ? |
